CONCEPT
GAMMA STRAIN is an RPG Extraction Roguelite. Control a squad of elite soldiers sent to investigate a mysterious ghost city.

A constant cat-and-mouse scenario unfolds as your team is hunted by a creature. Explore, survive, and try to end this nightmare.

USP
Battling ONE creature persistently throughout the experience creates an intimate and deeper character understanding. A worthy adversary with some semblance of a personality, in which fear is mingled with respect; not just one of many mindless aberrations. This direction is a bold yet plausible step, giving Gamma Strain a different take on the tried and tested roguelite genre.

STORY

A city suddenly goes dark. The inhabitants are missing, and an eerie fog rolls throughout each district.
There is no sign of life. What has befallen the citizens? Your squad is just one of many squads sent out to get to the bottom of this mystery, if they fail, someone else will take their place.

CHOICE MATTERS

Each map node presents a choice to the player with narrative events. Interview survivors, use your skills and items, and investigate the horror that has befallen the city. But pay attention to the mental state of your team influencing combat performance.

THE CREATURE

The creature's behavior will be the key to offering strategic and dynamic battles. Through multiple encounters tactics and “tells” are revealed, granting deeper insight on how to combat the creature. The player must constantly learn and adapt if they want to have any chance of their squad surviving.

A ROGUELITE
Explore the ghost city with your squad. Use your skills and choose the right path and create your own story.
Restart and evolve your classes. Explore new places and learn more about the situation through a dynamic modular map node system.

BATTLES
By surviving a battle, your squad can continue. When a squad member is downed, the Creature TAKES the squad member and escapes; signifying the end of the battle. Finding the next nearest nest is the only way to rescue your squad member. If all soldiers are in a downed state, they are all taken to the nest, and the game session is over.

About Developer

Gamma Minus is an award-winning indie game studio founded in Germany in 2018. Although the company itself is German, Gamma Minus is a remote studio, with team members residing in not only Germany but also France, Portugal, and the UK.

Gamma Strain will be our sophomore title, and the stakes are high!
