Project Introduction

In CyberTD you have just one tower you use to defend the cyber core against viruses attacking the cyberspace. Before each wave you pick one of three random upgrades from your deck. Upgrades improve the equipped weapons and abilities.
On game start you just have one weapon slot, one weapon and no abilities. Shortly after game start though you unlock the first ability of ViKing 2000, a drone with two personalities who will also guide you through the tutorials and the story in the game. Each 10th wave is a boss wave and defeating the bosses for the first time unlocks either a new ability or a new weapon.
Collecting electrons by defeating viruses grants new level-ups. Each level-up unlocks 4 new upgrades for the deck pool and sometimes also a new ability or weapon slot.
In the end of the game you have 5 weapon and 4 ability slots and 6 different weapons and 5 abilities to freely combine for different tactics.
Starting with level 7 the players can also start building custom decks to try out different tactics matching their loadout and play style.
While the tower position is static during a run, the game contains 3 path layout variations with several paths for them as well as two different biomes featuring different gameplay.
CyberTD can be played solo, coop and in a versus mode as well as with and against the Twitch chat thanks to our Twitch integration. The Twitch chat can take over control of player 2 in coop and versus as well as give hints or even pick cards for the player in singleplayer.
For long-term motivation we also have leaderboards and weekly changing challenges.

About Developer

The indie studio Clockwork Origins currently employs three full-time gaming nerds and also works closely with numerous freelancers in Germany and around the world. Together with the colleagues from Boxelware, the studio has set up a gaming hub in Erlangen, Bavaria.

The roots of Clockwork Origins go back to a modification team for the RPG Gothic II that has been active since 2005. The team's goal was and still is to explore the limits of what is technically possible, implement innovative ideas and frame them with exciting stories.

Since the official founding of the company in 2018, the tower defense series Elemental War and the fun racer Tri6: Infinite have been released.

For Tri6: Infinite, Clockwork Origins was nominated in the Best Developer and Best Sound categories at the 2021 GDD Indie Game Awards.

The sequel Tri6: Arena received concept funding from FilmFernsehFonds Bayern and is scheduled for release in 2025.

Currently, the team is working on completing the turn-based roguelite tower defense CyberTD, which is set in the same universe as the Tri6 series and will be released in September 2023.
