Project Introduction

The game is developed by a solo dev, has hand drawn (analog and digital) graphics and all animations are drawn in frame by frame style. The story is told over 7 chapters, and the game is released in these chapters.
The adventure game is retro, which means that its style is very similar to the 2D p&c adventures that existed mainly in the 90s, but the interface is still modern (1 click) and some of the game mechanics are taken from new adventures. Despite this, the retro character is in the foreground, even in the development of the quests, which are intertwined, do not build barriers in the game world and allow you to run around everywhere and pack a bunch of junk before you even realize what you need it for.

Story-wise, it's all about Vio, who's off work at a cafe and unintentionally opens a portal through a would-be Rubicks Cube that spits her into a weird world with even weirder characters. Vio wants to go home, of course, but she's not sure if what she's experiencing is real. The main task, of course, is to get home. She will visit different worlds and settings on her journey, meet a variety of characters and also meet the depressive Death, who becomes an involuntary companion (from chapter 2).

It is also important to note that the game is humorous, that is, the tone is sometimes a bit naughty, but mostly whimsical. The combination of items is often unusual but not illogical, and Vio also encounters a variety of strange things (a flying city in the clouds, a pirate pub in a swamp, a needle phobic tattoo artist).

The whole game is released with English and German full voice over, including some well known voices like Andrew James Spooner (English, Warcraft, Dr. Who, Cyberpunk...), Melissa Thom (EN, Disney, National Geographic, GTA V, Elder Scrolls), Tom Vogt (German, German voice of Laurence Fishburne & Colin Firth), Karin Buchali (German, Voodoo Lady Monkey Island), Bodo Henkel (German, Risen, Gothic) - and some other talented newcomers as well.

There will also be text translations in Polish, Spanish and French.

Planned is a release on the PC and consoles (Nintendo Switch and more)

The game runs on the Visionaire Studios engine, but has a lot of LUA script on top. Many things I manipulated on the engine to make it fit my game. Among other things, I rewrote the interpolation of the main character.

About Developer

I am solo dev, so the whole team is covered. All texts are written by me, all puzzles are planned by me, all graphics are drawn by me, animations as well and finally the game is built by me.

So far, I've been in contact with the German indie scene via Twitter and am privately well connected with some other devs (mostly adventure devs as well). This year I was at the Indie Game Fest in Cologne, but also at the German Dev Days in Frankfurt, which helped me to connect with the community. We have now also formed an internal regulars' table to keep in touch better and more independently.

A stand at Gamescom is planned in the Retro Arena.
