Project Introduction

Gameplay takes place in the “Bermuda Triangle” of asteroid belts, where players salvage their way out of a sea of space junk and take on an alien horde with the ultimate custom-fitted fighting drone. To survive the belt, players must solve puzzles on the fly and adapt their playstyle to the wide variety of weapons and defenses they discover while scavenging procedurally generated maps.

This is a game where your spaceship is the puzzle grid. You fly it through an obstacle-strewn asteroid field, using your environment to shuffle the pieces around while fending off enemies.

The goal is to collect square mineral ‘blocks’ and merge them together by arranging them into patterns or ‘combos’. When that happens, they collapse and upgrade into something more useful. Every combo the player makes rewards them with ammo that powers their ship’s weapons and defenses.

We imagine STAR SALVAGER could be a lost cabinet game from the golden age of arcades and pinball halls. Its visual style is a tribute to blacklight posters, comic books and retrofuture sci-fi franchises like BUCK ROGERS and FLASH GORDON. Our musical soundtrack echoes this era with a synth-infused, disco-electronica vibe.

Gamers on the hunt for something new will appreciate STAR SALVAGER’s original gameplay mechanics. Fans of old school arcade shooters, falling block puzzlers and roguelikes will find a twist on their favourite genre here that is unlike anything else on the market. This is light-hearted, action-packed, tactile fun with a high skill ceiling. The strategic depth and long-term challenges of the roguelike progression loop will keep players coming back over many play sessions.
