Project Introduction

BvB is a team-based multiplayer game where teams compete against each other in a game of Attack and Defend.

Teams of Players take turns playing as both The Burglars and The Brats.

---
Playing as The Burglars, your goal is simple: Break-in. Loot. Escape.

Playing as The Brats: Defend your house. Build Traps, use weapons, gadgets and work as a team to STOP The Burglars from stealing your stuff!

Teams play 2 rounds on each side.

The Team of Brats that Defends their house more successfully, wins the match!

-----
BvB offers a less violent, more accessible, fun-first approach to team-based multiplayer gameplay while removing the difficult barriers to entry often seen in online multiplayer games.

BvB is a game without Guns. No one gets shot. No one dies. There is minimal violence - only against the Burglars, and any violence demonstrated is done in a comical fashion.

Current Status:
A BvB prototype has been in development for the past few years. This prototype has fleshed out early designs, core systems and has progressed to a point of a core functional gameplay match between 4 players (2 teams of 2 players).

Even though a strong foundation of BvB has been laid, much work is needed to bring the game to an Early Access/ first-shippable state.

Core Gameplay:

From Chess to Counter-Strike, Soccer to Baseball, and anything in between, the best multiplayer games are always symmetrical & balanced. Shmowie Games understands this with the approach taken for designing Burglars vs Brats.

BvB is a symmetrical game, but has asymmetrical gameplay rounds. The gameplay in BvB consists of Timed Rounds, where a team plays 2 rounds Attacking(The Burglars) followed by 2 rounds Defending(The Brats).

A full game of BvB is called a Match, and lasts approximately 15 minutes.
A Match consists of:
A 45 second ‘Scouting & Preparation Round’
Round one: 2:15 minutes
A 60 second in-between ‘Repair & Buy Round’
Round two: 2:15 minutes
A 10 second Summary: Showing Total Loot(score) in the Van.
1-5 repeated, with Teams switching sides.

Upon completion of the final Round: The Team of Brats that defended their house more successfully during the Match is declared the Winner!

PLEASE CONSIDER THAT MANY BUGS STILL EXIST AND SOME SYSTEMS ARE NOT FULLY DEVELOPED NOR EVEN PROPERLY IMPLEMENTED YET! THANK YOU FOR UNDERSTANDING.

About Developer

Shmowie Games is a Studio based in Toronto, ON, Canada and was founded by me, Will Howie. I'm a former AAA Level Designer who one day thought "Why isn't the premise of Home Alone a video game yet?! It would be so fun as a multiplayer game!", and from that moment on has been committed to bring the vision of Burglars vs Brats to life.

I'm currently a solo dev, but I'm looking to get funding and hire some local Toronto talent to push BvB to Early Access. I'm hoping this contest can connect me with some people who see my vision for BvB, and recognize it's potential to be a great game not simply because no one else has built something similiar yet, and being first-to-market is often a great advantage, but also because of my strong background in game dev and years of experience in multiplayer gaming and design. I know that BvB will offer something gamers are truly looking for in the online multiplayer scene.

Shmowie Games hopes to grow with local talent, establishing a studio within Toronto that represents a less-violent approach to game design. Shmowie Games aims to establish a strong fan base through being a developer that represents quality, embraces connections and seeks voices within our local and gaming communities.
