Project Introduction

Did you know that the mushroom body is not only a cap and stem? The main body is located underground and sprouts in all directions for many meters. The Mushroom itself is only a reproduction organ, a way of DNA transfer to the next generation.

The Mycelium game takes this concept and develops it a bit more. Playing as Mycelium, you will have to:
1. Manage production and usage of resources - air, water, and organic. It is pretty straightforward with air and water - there are dedicated organs for appropriate resources - Spiracles and Roots. But there is only a little organic in the soil, so you will need...
2. ... to attack every living thing in the surroundings. For this, you need to find an open place, look around with Eyes, grow Shooters and Mouths' and start consuming anything you can. Eventually, you might not have enough strength, and big help could be...
3. ... mutagen. This is a special resource, after absorbing which you will be able to upgrade selected organ type. "Production" organs will produce more resources, "attack" organs will shoot faster, etc. And all of this is needed to...
4. ... release the spores. When the Mushroom organ is grown in open space, everything alive starts to glow. This glow is an Adaptation aura. Everything you managed to eat during this stage, will help you in the next generation. Because the next generation has to...
5. ... adapt. Before each new stage environment will change. It might be tougher to dig through the terrain, enemies could be faster and stronger, and even air could become poisoned for you. Using adaptation points, you can mitigate these changes.

Mycelium is a mix of "resources management" and "tower defense" genres, so game sessions will be middle-to-long duration.

Currently, the game is in the concept stage and has one playable level. Points 1-4 described above, already work, and there are many tasks planned. These tasks are aimed at gameplay improvements and balance, as well as aesthetics.

About Developer

I have been playing games since childhood, and, as probably many children, I always dreamed about improvements in beloved games. Dreams start becoming true in adult life: after education and work in IT, I started to learn Unity in my free time. Inspired by my favorite genres - resources management, tower defense and RTS, as well as music band (related to Mushrooms), and particular TD game (developed by guy from Kyiv), which I played lately for several years, I decided to combine all this in one flask and there it goes - Mycelium.
