Project Introduction

Footgun: Underground is an innovative action roguelike platformer game. The player navigates through a perilous underground labyrinth filled with traps and hostile creatures. The game is based on permadeath, where dying means starting over. Levels and loot are procedurally generated, ensuring a unique experience every time and high replay value. Inventory management is a key part of the game, requiring strategic decision-making.

The combat mechanic blends elements of soccer and billiards in a unique way. Players must kick a ball to inflict damage, and this ball can bounce off the level boundaries or interact with other balls, requiring precise aiming and planning. This mechanic can lead to unexpected chain reactions that offer tactical advantages and keep gameplay unpredictable.

The direct physical interaction with the game world through kicking the ball provides a greater sense of presence and realism, standing in contrast to traditional roguelike combat mechanics that rely on weapons or spells.

Balls have different properties and upgrades affecting their damage, flight behavior, and additional effects such as freezing or burning enemies on contact. Other complex effects can be triggered under specific conditions. These ball properties offer a wealth of tactical possibilities and contribute to a fresh and challenging gameplay experience.
