Project Introduction

Take up your sword, channel your magic or board your Mech. Chained Echoes is a 16-bit SNES style RPG set in a fantasy world where dragons are as common as piloted mechanical suits.

The continent Valandis suffered from a 150 years war and peace finally arrived - but at a cost. The Grand Grimoire, a weapon so powerful that no human should ever have control over it, brought the peace, costing the lifes of thousands. But old habbits die hard and the war is not really over just yet - and maybe the war itself is just a small part of a much bigger thing.

Turn based combat comes with a twist: Every action fills an Overdrive bar which influences the combat. The player will always try to get into overdrive mode and will try to avoid overheating it - giving the traditional turn based mechanics a new spin.

Besides that there are Airships, Mechs, Magic, countless monsters and a story which plays with the players feeling. Whatever the players will think the story is all about, their opinion will get change quite often.

Matthias is a communication designer with a focus on animation and graphic design who has been working in the industry for several years. Due to his love for game design theory, coding and RPGs, he started working on his own project, Chained Echoes, 3 1/2 years ago to make his dream come true.
