Project Introduction

A psychological horror thriller in which the character has to face his fear and the player has to face his choice and its consequences. Together, they will have to understand the nature of the hotel, not to lose their sanity and choose who they will trust as they walk through the valley of the shadow of death to meet evil.

The player will have to accept the importance of defeat and choice, each death or defeat will make the game more difficult until it ends with a bad ending. Equally important is the choice, the player will have to decide who he trusts, the mysterious helper or he trusts only himself. As with defeat, this will determine the difficulty of the game.

Evil is trivial. But what do you do when the personification of evil is your fear? Can you win, or will you let fear envelop you? This story is not about ghosts and monsters, this story is about fighting yourself.

The Hotel is inspired by many works of fiction, such as 1408 and Shining, as well as games like Layers of Fear and SOMA. However, in it, I'm trying to use new gameplay mechanics that I haven't seen before in games of a similar genre, such as the permanent death mechanic, the dynamic complexity of the game depending on the choices and defeats, and a number of smaller mechanics. All this should diversify the gameplay, and maybe bring something new to the genre.

About Developer

My name is Konstantin, and I'm the author of The Hotel. This is my first project, hopefully not the last. The reason for its creation is quite simple, I want to play a game with a complete stranger (cosplaying John Kramer). I am interested to understand the psychology of man, how he would act, in this or that situation, diluting it with gameplay elements. I was also curious to see if I could light the candle of interest in the player as a game designer. These reasons were the basis for the creation of this project
