Houston, we have a problem — это кооп-экшн аркада для двух (в перспективе — до четырёх) игроков, в которой вам и вашим друзьям предстоит взять под управление ремонтных дроидов на корабле, летящем сквозь астероидное поле. Ваша задача — работая в команде, поддерживать системы корабля в рабочем состоянии и латать дыры в обшивке, стараясь не вылететь в открытый космос. Игра предполагает слаженную работу и взаимопомощь, с множеством потенциальных задач, которые необходимо выполнять вдвоём.

Кроме того, простота механики открывает возможность создания более разнообразного и комплексного геймплея с множеством разных задач и препятствий. При хорошем кор-геймплее, игру легко расширить и разнообразить.

Проект был сделан за два дня и две бессонных ночи в рамках Global Game Jam 2020 и в процессе полюбился мне, а после презентации — и жюри, и многим участникам. Я верю в игру и надеюсь найти толчок для развития, чтобы через год-другой, я и вы смогли собраться с друзьями за партией в “Houston, we have a problem”.

Project Introduction

Houston, we have a problem is a couch co-op game for two (up to four in the future) players, where you play as repair droids, flying through an asteroid field, trying to safely bring the ship home. Your priorities are teamwork and keeping the ship systems up and running, also patching holes in the hull and trying not to fall through them into the outer space. You'll have to work together and help each other, whether it be recharging a dead teammate, or completing one of many potential tasks, that require coordinated actions.

The simplicity of core mechanic opens a possibility to create more diverse and complex gameplay with more stuff to fix in new ways and more obstacles and dangers to avoid. And with fun and challenging core gameplay the game can be easily scaled and expanded.

The project was made in two days and two sleepless nights as part of the Global Game Jam 2020. I enjoyed making it, and both judges and other participants enjoyed giving it a try. I believe in the game, though it needs a lot of work, I'm just looking for a push in the right direction, so that in a year or two we all can gather with friends to get some fixing done in "Houston, we have a problem".

I'm a solo developer, trying to juggle work, personal projects and healthy sleep, based in Kharkiv, Ukraine. I do everything myself and, when needed, I even do it well.
I only make games that I like, and like all the games that I make. I hope, some of you will like them too. I am a full-time Unity developer and someday I will have enough money to have enough time to bring all my ideas to life.

Maybe it will happen this year. Or next year. Yes. Next year sounds good. Let's leave it at that.
