Project Introduction
The Tower is an action-building party game where players repair a tower (or other kinds of structures) using unusual building blocks while defending it from mysterious assailants. They must keep doing so until they reach the target height. To build and defend their towers, the players must use the wildly unusual building blocks created by their magic generators, ranging from the good old stone block to a desk or a giant piece of cheese. They can transport these blocks by levitation using their magic staff and place them on the tower's broken walls. If the block stays put on the wall long enough, it will solidify and become unmovable. After a few blocks have been solidified, the building platform goes up, bringing the players closer to victory.
Periodically, enemies appear on the tower and must be dealt with before they destroy the heart-shaped light cores, the magical devices fueling our generators. The enemies can be picked up and thrown off the tower, but the blocks can also serve as improvised weapons against them. With the blocks, players can damage and stun the enemies, making them easier to throw off the tower or bringing them closer to destruction. Their magic staff can also be used as a low-damaging weapon to hit enemies. The enemies appear in waves, akin to a Tower Defense, and become progressively more numerous and dangerous. The players will face various types of enemies boasting different capabilities and even special powers in some cases.
The Tower will have 2 main game modes: Story and Quick Play. The Story mode is a coop adventure in which the players must save the kingdom from the invading shadowy creatures. To do so, they must repair the old towers and other tall structures across the kingdom so they can install powerful light cores at their summit. The cores would then act like lighthouses for the surrounding areas, chasing away the invaders and the cloud of darkness they live in.
The Quick Play mode is a multiplayer mode offering alternative game modes featuring coop and/or competitive play such as the coopetitive Versus mode shown in the prototype.
