Project Introduction

The Last Flame offers an astonishing amount of build customization, allowing players to discover and create thousands of clever and unique builds! Every run, players will need to adapt with the tools available by mix and matching effects, items, stats, heroes and team buffs to defeat the many challenges that the game has to offer. I believe that The Last Flame is the Roguelike Auto-Battler with the most complex and flexible build system. With over 55 heroes, 250 items, 120 relics and 55 origins available, players will discover new build strategies and ways to tackle the fights every single time that they play a new run. I am the solo developer of the game; thus, I know the ins and outs of the game, and I played the game for hundreds of runs. Yet, I am still discovering totally new builds that I didn't even know were possible/existed!

Build making is very widespread in games. For instance, MMOs and RPGs (WoW, PoE, Elden Ring, Skyrim, etc..) almost always have some form of build making. For some players, making builds is one of the most enjoyable part of a game, and maybe that they wish they could do more of just that: making cool builds! This is what The Last Flame is all about! The roguelike sub-genre is perfect for this type of game as it makes it fast paced, and unpredictable every single run. Discovering creative and clever builds is extremely rewarding in The Last Flame.

Tactical positioning in The Last Flame is a lot more meaningful and strategical compared to typical auto-battlers. Enemies and heroes have deep mechanics that require strategy. It goes way beyond placing your tank(s) in the front and your carries in the back.

The game has many ways that it can be played. You can progress through the five difficulties of the game, try to beat your personal and friends' high scores in the Endless Mode, or tackle completely new ways of playing the game in the Challenge Modes.

The game's replayability is extremely high. Every run feels different. You discover and explore new build possibilities, encounter new bosses and enemies; finally, augment relics offers new ways and strategies of approaching each runs.

The game gives "one more run" feelings. You unlock new content, new difficulties, new game modes, you want to try a new hero combination, and so on. It keeps the players hooked for a long time!

About Developer

I have been passionately working solo on The Last Flame for over 2 years. The project was not initially intended to be a full release game. In fact, after graduating from university, I decided to work on a "quick" project to add to my portfolio in order to get a job in the video game industry. During this game dev journey, many factors got me increasingly motivated to keep working on The Last Flame. Mainly, discovering communities that are interested by this niche genre of game, my family that is extremely supportive and my friends that loved playing the game. It went from a "1 month quick" project to a 4 months serious project to a 8 months "I will release this game" project... I am now over 2 years into the project! So yea a bit of an unexpected journey, but I am very happy to have taken this path!
