Project Introduction
Pekoe is a life-sim management game about making tea. You gather and harvest materials as well as interact with NPC to gain items to make tea in your teahouse. You come to Pekoe after the founder of the town Chae-Won, has passed away and the town is suffering. As you meet the characters and help them heal after loss the town begins to revitalize. By making tea, friends, and serving customers in your shop you're able to help the town become healthy and thriving once again.About Developer
Kitten Cup Studio is a Toronto based studio. While the game is not directly set in Toronto it takes multiple inspirations from the city and the Canadian context in the game. The studio consists largely of women, PoC, and LGBTQIA+ staff. Saffron Aurora, Artistic Director of Pekoe, is also the Artistic Director for Mighty Yell, another Toronto based Studio. Len Predko, Community Manager, is also the Executive Director of Hand Eye Society. Justin Parks is the programmer for the game. Writer Stephanie Cooke is an award winning young adult graphic novelist and editor. Simon Paquette, CEO and Creative Director of Reptoid Games, is animating for the project. Music is being made by Mark Sparling of A Short Hike and Shantae and the Seven Sirens. ChiChi Zhu is our character artists, working simultaneously on Paw Patrol. Claire Tai, our only non-Toronto based staff, works on the environments for the game. Our priority as a studio is to make a great game while honouring the work and time of the staff on the project. Healthy work-life balance is important to the team, as well as prioritizing the long term health of those we work with and the industry we work in.
