Project Introduction

Kinetic Storm is a top-down arena shooter where you destroy waves of enemies and select upgrades at the end of the wave. It is a roguelike, so enemies and upgrades are randomly generated, and every play-through is radically different as you discover synergies between your weapon, skill, movement, and defence choices. Running on a custom Vulkan game engine, it is both visually stunning and highly performant with responsive low-latency controls.

Before each run select your primary and secondary weapon. Focus on upgrading one, or carefully choose useful upgrades for each.

Manage your energy levels to make best use of your skills. A dash at just the right time can save your ship, or destroy masses of enemies ... if you have the right upgrades.

Enemies are carefully designed to each have distinct abilities and defences. Some are deadly up close, others from far away, or only from some angles. Which will you destroy first?

Challenge massive and terrifying boss enemies.

Your reward for survival is ever increasing power and destructive ability.

About Developer

I'm a solo developer working on my first game, I wrote the game engine from scratch in C++/Vulkan and plan to open-source it after release. I'm originally from Montreal, worked for Activision for a few years at their Quebec City studio, and currently live in Ottawa.

I did a few devlogs while creating the engine: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL1JRZo9vfKyPMEn90M8_AH0D5K1YaGiLS
