Project Introduction

Fuchian Chronicles is a sci-fi JRPG that takes place in both space and ground settings, and has turn based party combat. Unlike other JRPGs however, characters do not "level up" in the traditional sense, and their abilities are tied to the gear they have equipped, which can be changed in the middle of combat. Equipment can also be upgraded with various attachments, including some that can grant additional abilities. This means that you will never be over- or under-leveled in combat, and your success relies on you being prepared and adapting to your enemies.

The player's actions, and inaction, will also have an impact on how the story of Fuchian Chronicles progresses. Doing something early in the game opens up new options later on, and not doing something else can lead to the loss of a potential ally. How the player handles various encounters can also influence the opinions of your party members, which can lead to additional consequences and rewards.

Fuchian Chronicles also features plenty of lore that can be found in the in game databank. Most items, weapons, and armour features insights into life in the Galactic Fuchian Empire, and there are also entries about the Empire's starships, history, and worldview.

The game is currently about 10 hours long, depending on how much exploration the player does, and I should note that while in Early Access, the game's story is not yet complete. Please see the announcements on the Steam page for more details!

About Developer

I am a solo indie developer with a passion for storytelling and world building, especially in sci-fi and space settings. I've been a gamer since I was a kid, and especially loved narrative RPGs with deep lore such as Mass Effect. For various reasons I wasn't able to pursue an education in game development, but once I graduated in 2017, I decided to pursue my dreams as an indie developer and taught myself to make games. I do most of the development myself, though I subcontract others to fill roles I don't have the skills for (mainly drawing characters and sprites) and buy asset packs for music and animations. Fuchian Chronicles is my most ambitious game to yet, and I hope to make more in the future!
