Kyle Banks

Project Introduction

Farewell North is about a woman on a personal journey deep in the Scottish highlands with her border collie, the player character. Dealing with a declining mental state and the emotions of a tragic loss, all color has left her world and it's up to you to bring it back as you aid her on her journey.

Explore the islands and uncover memories in order to restore color to the archipelago, unlocking new paths, extinguishing hazards and revealing hidden objects. Explore the hand crafted, atmospheric islands while evading the creatures that would hold you back.

Discover and activate frozen wildlife to temporarily bring color back to the world, solve puzzles based on perspective and color effects to reveal hidden objects and paths in the environment. Find the perfect vantage point to reveal the secrets of the islands.

Journey at your own pace, running through lush grassy fields, hiking steep cliffs, and canoeing the ocean between an open world chain of islands inspired by the Scottish archipelagos of St. Kilda and Orkney. Discover new islands and challenges throughout the world as you work to restore color.

Unravel a unique story about saying farewell as memories reveal a glimpse into the life of the characters. Discover the events in the past which have led the characters to the archipelago, and caused all color to leave the world.

About Developer

Farewell North is the debut game from Kyle Banks, an Edinburgh based software engineer with over a decade of experience releasing commercial software. Kyle has been practicing as a hobbyist game developer since 2013, participating in game jams and creating technical tutorials, and after moving to Edinburgh, Scotland from Toronto, Canada in 2019 (right as the COVID-19 pandemic put all travel ambitions on hold) decided that it was time to create his first proper commercial release, inspired by the beautiful landscapes and folklore of Scotland.
