Project Introduction

Crafty Survivors is a horde survival action roguelite, with some RPG elements, where players unlock a cast of unique crafty professionals, each with their own gameplay mechanic and pool of skills. The characters don't follow the usual trope of classes from games, such as warriors and mages, and instead are based on professions like cooks, blacksmiths, farmers, etc. Going through the different stages and areas in the game, players can collect gold and materials to rebuild their Village, unlocking new characters, new Systems to customize their gameplay and improve their stats.

Progressing through the game will also unlock News and Letters that will reveal the lore and characters of Crafty Survivors to the player. It is an entirely optional feature, where players can read new Mail on the Village screen, clicking on the Mailbox. These mail will reveal relationships between characters, what happened to the world around them and how they got into this situation.

Currently the game has 7 different characters: a Chef, a Sculptor, a Seamstress, a Lumberjack, a Farmer, a Fisherman and a Blacksmith. Each of them have a different playstyle, with their own unique features that showcase their profession during gameplay. The Chef can prepare enemies with his skills to serve a delicious meal that can empower himself while dealing damage to enemies, while the Sculptor places raw materials on the ground and must carve them to activate powerful effects when his statues are complete.

The Village contains multiple Systems to aid players in progressing through the game. The Kitchen allows players to equip Foods that will give a variety of buffs during their runs, while some gathering Systems will help the player collect more material while going through Stages. The Weaving and Blacksmithing Systems bring more customization to each character of the game through skill trees full of passive effects, that enhance or alter some of their mechanics, letting players mix and match effects and create their own builds.

Throughout the Early Access we are releasing more characters and areas. There will be a total of 16 characters and 9 areas, with each area containing their own amount of stages, bosses and challenges.

About Developer

Flannel Bear Games is a small indie studio of 2 people, a married gay couple that lives in Toronto, Ontario. We are 1 artist and 1 programmer, responsible for all content of the game Crafty Survivors. We've been working on small projects together for more than 4 years before we decided to work on a bigger commercial project, called Gedda Cake. After developing Gedda Cake for a while, we decided it was better to start a smaller project so people could know more about our small studio and the games we could develop, so we started Crafty Survivors.
We also hired a music composer as a contractor for the game, doing the soundtrack and sfx, who lives in Vancouver, BC. He has been working with us for almost 4 years on all our games.
