Camille and Laura

Project Introduction

My goal with Camille and Laura was to make gameplay mechanics of the daily chores Laura has to do. In conjunction with your typical dialog trees, the events of the game would change depending on how the player would fare in the daily chores minigames.

The game opens with Laura having to make breakfast for Camille, which introduces a mini-game of preparing and cooking meals. There is another minigame for Laura's workday, which is a simple idle game where the player needs to answer emails that pile on. Those two are already in the prototype.

I would want to develop other minigames, a simple rhythm one for Laura trying to calm herself and a simple management one for Laura buying school supplies and groceries.

In between these minigames would be regular story moments where the gameplay consists of dialog trees and point-and-click movement.

The game would take place over five days and would go through the ups and downs of Camille and Laura's relationship, expressing the struggle of daily routine and the mental toll it can take on the character, but also establishing the importance of the two characters relationship and their love for each other.

About Developer

My name is Olivier Bouchard, I am a single developer based in Montreal. I released my first game, A Game About (https://store.steampowered.com/app/927990/A_Game_About/), in 2018, and the game amassed over 40 000 players. I have developed two other prototypes, including Camille & Laura, and am currently working on finding help and funding to finish those projects.

I am also a french Canadian movie critic and work in movie editing for MELS.
